The taskbar
macOS forgot.

Apple Crumble pins a real taskbar to the bottom of your Mac with Crumble Bar: every open window at a glance, a Start menu and hotkey, and live window previews on hover. Crumble Snap adds Rectangle-style window snapping, and the optional Crumble Ask puts a Claude chat panel one keystroke away.

The Dock hides the one thing you need: your windows.

The macOS Dock shows apps, not windows. Open three browser windows and four docs and you are left ⌘-Tab guessing. Crumble Bar puts every window — and a way to jump straight to it — one glance away.

What's inside

One app. Three ways your Mac gets better.

Crumble Bar

Everything the Dock should have been.

Every window at a glance

Hover any app to peek large, live-refreshing thumbnails of every open window in a tidy grid. Click a thumbnail to raise that exact window — or hit ✕ to close it — powered by ScreenCaptureKit.

A Start menu & a global hotkey

Tap the Start button or hit ⌃⌥Space to fire Spotlight — or switch to a real Start menu with a searchable app list, quick links to Settings, Activity Monitor and Files, plus Lock, Sleep, Restart and Shut Down.

Pinned apps + live running indicators

Pin your favorites and click to launch. Every running app gets a button too — even unpinned ones — with a light underline under what's open and a wider accent line under the app in front.

Right-click jump lists

Right-click any app for app-specific actions — Chrome's New Tab / New Window / New Incognito, and the like — plus Hide, Quit, Pin and Unpin. The shortcuts you reach for, where your cursor already is.

Make it yours

Pick the bar, icon and preview size, choose a custom colour with one-click presets (Charcoal, Midnight, Frost…), and dial in a frosted tint-over-blur or a solid fill with a transparency slider. Toggle the clock and the “+” to taste.

It reserves real screen space

Crumble Bar keeps normal and maximized windows above the bar — the same technique Rectangle and yabai use — and gracefully auto-hides for full-screen apps, sliding back when you nudge the bottom edge.

Quick Settings & a real system tray

Click the status cluster for a Windows 11 style flyout: Wi-Fi and Bluetooth lists, Dark Mode, AirDrop, volume and brightness sliders. And the clock finally earns its keep: click it for a proper month-view calendar.

Crumble Snap

Windows that land where you point them.

Drag to snap, or never touch the mouse

Drag a window to any edge or corner and it snaps to halves, quarters or thirds, exactly like Rectangle. Prefer the keyboard? Every zone has a shortcut, with size cycling, restore, and moving windows between displays built in.

Power tools for window tilers

Hold while dragging for a throw grid that files the window into any cell. Define custom snap targets, stash windows off the screen edge and peel them back, and save whole desks as workspace layouts you recall with one shortcut.

Crumble Ask · optional add-on

Claude, one keystroke away.

Ask anything, anywhere

Press ⌥Space in any app and a Claude chat panel opens right on your desktop: drafting, explaining, translating, debugging. Quick sums are answered by an on-device calculator before anything is sent. Included with the With Ask plans.

And the finer points

The small stuff is in the box too.

Six quieter features you'll lean on every day. Open any card for the detail.

Every display

  • Bar on every monitor: one toggle puts Crumble Bar along the bottom of each display, not just the main one.
  • Move windows between displays: a Snap shortcut throws the focused window to the next screen, resized to fit.
  • Snap where you drag: edges, corners and the throw grid work on whichever screen the window is on.

Screenshots & screen text

  • One-tap screenshots: tap the right key on its own to fire the native macOS capture: whole screen, area, or the full ⇧⌘5 toolbar. Your pick.
  • Captures copy themselves: every screenshot lands on the clipboard automatically, ready to paste.
  • Copy text from the screen: press ⌃⌥T, drag a rectangle over anything, and the text is on your clipboard. OCR runs entirely on your Mac.

Globe key, remapped

  • A full Command key: the 🌐/fn key becomes a real ⌘, so copy, paste and ⌘Tab sit in the bottom-left corner your muscle memory expects.
  • Per keyboard: enable it only on the keyboards you choose; your other modifier remaps are preserved.
  • Applies live: no reboot, no logout, and switching it off restores the key instantly.

A quieter menu bar

  • Auto-hide the menu bar: the bar at the top slides away until you want it, so Crumble Bar is the only chrome on screen.
  • Hide the system clock & status icons: Crumble Bar already shows the time, so the top-right corner can go quiet.
  • Or just trim the date: keep the system time and drop the “Sat 27 Jun” clutter.

The date trim applies instantly; macOS applies the other two at your next login.

Snapping, fine-tuned

  • Gaps between windows: set exactly how much breathing room snapped windows keep.
  • Restore on unsnap: drag a snapped window free and it springs back to its old size.
  • Outline & haptics: see the target frame before you drop, with optional animation and a trackpad tick.
  • Title-bar double-click: double-click any window's title bar to maximize it, and again to restore.

Backup & updates

  • Settings backup: save every preference, pin and layout to a single file and load it on a new Mac.
  • Automatic updates: notarized updates download and install in place, with automatic checks you can switch off.

Loved by switchers & power users

The Mac, the way your muscle memory wants it.

“I switched from Windows and missed the taskbar every single day. Crumble Bar gave it back — the window previews are better than I remember.”
— Dana R., software engineer
“The hover peek alone is worth it. I stop ⌘-Tab roulette and just click the window I want. It's become muscle memory.”
— Marcus L., designer
“Feels like Apple shipped it. Native, fast on my M-series, and it actually reserves space so my windows don't hide under it.”
— Priya N., data analyst

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What does the 7-day free trial include?
Crumble Bar and Crumble Snap, fully unlocked for 7 days with no credit card required. Crumble Ask is unlocked by a With Ask product key. When the trial ends you can subscribe, buy a one-time license, or keep using your Mac as before.
Subscription or one-time: which should I pick?
Subscribe Basic (A$4.99/month) covers Crumble Bar and Crumble Snap; Subscribe With Ask (A$7.99/month) adds the Crumble Ask panel. Prefer no recurring charge? Own It (A$49.99 once) is Crumble Bar and Crumble Snap forever, and Own it with Ask & updates (A$85.65 once) is the complete suite with version updates included. You can switch or cancel a subscription anytime.
Why does Apple Crumble need Accessibility and Screen Recording?
Accessibility lets it snap and resize windows, keep them above the bar, and fire the Start hotkey. Screen Recording lets ScreenCaptureKit draw the live window previews and power the on-screen text grabber. Quick Settings can optionally use Bluetooth and Location Services for device and Wi-Fi lists. Every permission is explained feature by feature on the Under the hood page.
Is my data private?
Window thumbnails and screen-text OCR are processed entirely on your Mac and never uploaded. The only things that ever leave your machine: product-key validation, feedback you choose to send, and (if you use Crumble Ask) the prompts you type into the Claude panel.
What are the system requirements?
macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later on an Apple Silicon Mac. Apple Crumble is a small, native, notarized app — around 6 MB.
Will it clash with the macOS Dock?
No. Crumble Bar sits at the bottom and reserves its own screen space. For the cleanest look, set the Dock to auto-hide — but it is not required.
Can I use it on more than one Mac?
Yes. Both subscriptions and one-time licenses cover all the Macs you personally use.
